Crack the Stone named Finalist in the Realm Awards

Exciting news, friends! Crack the Stone was named a finalist in the Novella category for the 2024 Realm Awards.

The ever-growing Realm Awards were “created to recognize the most excellent speculative fiction written by Christian authors.”

I’m not sure how many novellas were originally entered into the category, but of a field of thirty-something semifinalists, my goblinny little book made it into the top five. Hooray!

Realm Makers 2024

Last week I had the privilege to travel to the Realm Makers writing conference in St. Louis, Missouri, where I was able to attend the award ceremony banquet and receive my finalist medal.

Better yet, I was able to catch up with writing friends from far and near—including Olivia Gratehouse, one of the other authors from The Realm Beneath anthology coming this fall.

And for the first time ever, four authors from the A Classic Retold series were in the same room at the same time! Here’s photographic proof:

From left to right is me; Rosie Grymm (author of Riddle of Hearts); Jenelle Leanne Schmidt (Steal the Morrow); and Emily Hayse (Kill the Dawn). This meeting is especially meaningful because for the past three years we’ve all worked closely with one another over text and video chat, but had never actually met face-to-face. It was such a neat experience!

Thanks again to the folks at Realm Makers for putting on such a great conference every year, and thanks to all of YOU for your encouragement and passion for my books.

Until next time,
