Guess what? Crack the Stone is part of a multi-author series!

Okay, friends of Vindor, I've been holding out on you, and now it's time to 'fess up.

Retelling a classic novel isn't just a cool idea I came up with. In October of 2021, I received a message from fairytale author Allison Tebo asking if I’d be interested in participating in a multi-author project. The idea was that we would have nine authors each retelling a classical novel in a fantasy setting. I loved the idea and eagerly agreed. The catch is, I could talk about my individual book, but the project itself had to be a secret …

… until now.

Introducing: A Classic Retold

A Classic Retold will feature the following books:

  • Break the Beast by Allison Tebo, a high fantasy retelling of Beowulf

  • Crack the Stone by Emily Golus, an epic fantasy retelling of Les Misérables

  • Steal the Morrow by Jenellle Leanne Schmidt, a gaslamp fantasy retelling of Oliver Twist

  • Unearth the Tides by Alissa J. Zavalianos, a cozy fantasy retelling of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

  • Raise the Dead by Nina Clare, a low fantasy retelling of Jane Eyre

  • Summon the Light by Tor Thibeaux, an epic fantasy retelling of The Tempest

  • Chase the Legend by Hannah Kaye, a gaslamp fantasy retelling of Moby Dick

  • Kill the Dawn by Emily Hayse, a Nordic fantasy retelling of Hamlet

  • Riddle of Hearts by Rosie Grymm, a magical fantasy retelling of Alice in Wonderland

Each book in the series is a stand-alone story. If you're excited about Crack the Stone, I'm confident you'll enjoy other books in A Classic Retold’s collection as well.

I'm so honored to be working with this amazing group of authors. Though we’re spread throughout the United States (and even the United Kingdom), these women have inspired me and become my friends.
