Crack the Stone cover reveal

TA-DAAAAAA!

I’m so pleased with how beautiful and bold this cover came out. It’s definitely a different feel than the Vindor Duology, but it reflects the character of Valshara well.

Here’s a breakdown of some of the symbolism:

The central image is Valshara’s obsidian shiv, a weapon she improvises in prison and intends to use in getting revenge. It’s especially appropriate since Valshara’s name literally means “obsidian” in her language, and the glass-like volcanic stone is an apt symbol of her heart—hard, sharp, inflexible, and prone to cracking.

But Valshara’s prison escape adventure takes her on a different path than she ever imagines, and she never fulfils her revenge fantasies. Her obsidian heart begins to soften, and the weapon ends up serving an entirely different purpose than she could have ever guessed …

The series design

Crack the Stone is the second book in the A Classic Retold series, and each book has a cover that coordinates with the others. Here’s what it looks like side-by-side with the first book in the series, Allison Tebo’s Break the Beast:

And there are seven more beautiful covers to come! Major thanks to our design team at MiblArt.

Crack the Stone will release as both an ebook and paperback on September 22, 2023, but you can preorder the ebook now. (Paperback preorders will follow in a few weeks!)
